MORE ABOUT US

Shotokan Fitness Karate School offers adults and children aged  five years and over the opportunity  to  learn  karate  skills improve their self-confidence and keep fit at the same time. Students are trained  in  the  philosophy and  style of  traditional and modern Shotokan Karate.

However we do not limit ourselves solely to Shotokan style – we specialise in this, but tend to combine the training style  with various martial arts styles.

Our classes aim to teach and perfect a range of techniques, such as blocking, kicking, punching, striking, and stances. We emphasise the importance of these techniques, and how to use them at your advantage. The classes are designed to learn self-defence in a semi contact manner, ensuring safety and control with respect and disciplined making it suitable for everyone to learn and enjoy the training.

Shotokan Fitness has a full curriculum and offers regular grading for the students so they can continue to develop and obtain higher level belts/grade. The school also has regular club competition for the student to develop and has several British championships and is associated with Amateur Martial Association (AMA UK).

Getting started - Qualification & Grading

Based on the study and training of karate, students take  part in a  grading (exam) every three months to assess their performance over the period. Successful students move to the next level which is recognised by a different colour belt and approved certificate.
